Last weekend

Last weekend I was in Philly with my lovely sister, BFF Courtney and 2 of Katie's running buddies from Baltimore for a 24 hour race. This was the race I was describing a few posts ago when asking for your money :) It was an AWESOME experience! First of all, it was so fun to channel our inner 12 year olds and basically have a sleepover (sans sleep, just like the old days). We were camped out on a gym floor and subsisted on peanut butter crackers, swedish fish and these huge, random soft pretzels for the weekend.

We each ran a total of about 25 and a half miles on a nice flat course around the Schuylkill River. It was a HOT day but we made it. It was so inspiring to meet a few of the Back On My Feet success stories, and to watch the people around us run ultra marathons! They made 26.2 seem like a warm up and it gave me a new confidence that it is a pretty manageable distance.

I think I slept about 20 minutes total in the 24 hours and the 2:30 am leg of my race was not the easiest thing I've ever done, but I would definitely do this race again. Who's in next year?

Here are some pics that sum up our weekend.
Our team name was Run Hon, so we of course had to dress the part :)

This look just never gets old...

We had a few supporters on the course!

Probably around midnight...

Steve update:

Yay! I got home from my trip to Philly this weekend and Steve's eye is much better. I am just going to watch him and keep doling out my unrequited love.

In other news, I apologize to anyone who reads this blog who is also in my email address book. For the last two Saturday's in a row, yahoo mail has spammed everyone with an email link to a gambling site or something in Arabic...  I was hanging with Courtney on Saturday and she looked at her blackberry and then at me and says, "did you just email me, TP?" Since I don't have a blackberry or any sort of PDA and was sans laptop the obvious answer was no. Then I remembered last Saturday and was like, "Um, was it a weird email?" We were laughing at all the people on the recipient list; it went to the email address that my mom, sister and I SHARED in high school (wonder how that worked out for us), another one Katie used like 3 jobs ago.

Love technology...

help!

I need help from anyone who knows about cats. I know nothing but there is a sweet cat in my life who needs help. Ever since I moved into my apartment more than two years ago, a tiny black and white stray cat has been lurking. He is very skittish and has never let me get too close but I think he trusts me. We feed him everyday and he likes to meet me at the car when I get home from work and walk me to my door. My ex named him Steve and it seems to have stuck :) All the neighbors call him that now, too. I have been worrying lately about what will happen to him when I get married and move away. I think he was abused, he has one ear that looks like some kid hacked off the tip with a pair of scissors. He is just so sweet and I know he loves us, he just has a fear of commitment.

Anyway, I noticed today that he has a nasty infection in an eye. It is a red thing that is sort of growing over the eye and now covers almost half of it. And the eye is sort of squinting shut. Should I try to capture him and take him to a vet? He was extra attentive to me today like he was crying out for help. Help Steve-O! What to do?

just kidding

I couldn't do it. I couldn't on good conscience as a designer BUY my invitations. Pretty soon original save-the-dates with be descending upon mailboxes across America. And I have a blister the size of a ladybug on my finger from cutting the dang things out. Ahh, the things we do for love.

wedding update...

This is what I want for my wedding bouquet, isn't it gorgeous? I think Brett can wear a tie that is the same blue as the ribbon (which will probably be a little less turquoise than this one) and it will look dashing with a khaki colored suit. Getting excited!

I have decided that in the interest of time and sanity, I am going to buy invitations off the rack :( I really wanted to design my own but time is slipping away and I just can't get the design where I want it. I feel a little bit like a graphic design sob story, oh well.

Another fun tidbit, we have decided to go to all our first date spots dressed up in our wedding clothes for photos! Since it will be the first time Brett sees me, it will be kind of like a blind date all over again :) I might add, that date was documented here as my 4th blog post. Check out January 2008. We'll see if I end up throwing the frisbee in the park in my wedding dress...

Is anyone else just overjoyed that it is finally Friday?

nice car!

We just got back from a trip to Michigan to visit Brett's parents. One early morning, Brett and his brother Nick took me to Mackinac Island so I could run on the trail that goes all around the island. It was gorgeous! I could go on about that but I won't bore you with the details of my exercise routine. What was more entertaining was the good laugh we got at 7:20 am when we drove up to the ferry dock. We were paying the parking attendant and he's like, "okay guys, you can park over there right next to the truck and the nice car." We were all three intrigued by what this 19 year old considered a nice car. I was thinking Jag, I think Brett was thinking BMW. No idea what Nick was thinking but I am pretty sure it wasn't the burgundy Corvette that was parked there! So funny. We laughed about that ALL DAY. No offense if you love Corvettes, and just to be clear, I am talking about the kind you'd see cool kids driving circa 1989, not the sweet models that came out before 1980. Gotta love the Michigan perspective.

animal house

darling little piggies

this is a crazy photo, right?

chickens really do have large talons...

I spent the last 2 days at a sort of utopian-eco-farm-village. For work. But it didn't feel like work, it felt like summer camp. Complete with baby animals. Enjoy.

in record time

skinny y, fat z

for Oxley

This actually got done Tuesday night but I have been away on a work trip. I think it came out so cute! Love the fresh colors and energetic type. I always have a hard time parting with things I make but this one was harder, I so wanted to keep it. But there was an exchange of money so that made it a tad easier.

I am officially out of the office until Wednesday, yay! Enjoy the holiday.
